Skidmark sports teams evolved from a co-ed softball team known as the Linsay Olive "Pits". Six members of that team joined the Visalia YMCA volleyball league in the Fall of 1987. Those original members were Jim and Sue Crawford, Bob and Jeannie Craine, and Bob and Shari Williams. Before our first game that season, we were asked the name of our team. Since the girls had gone to the bathroom, Bob Williams blurted out the now infamous name of "Skidmarks"! And, thus, the birth of the Skidmarks. That team went on to win the volleyball league that year. Since then, Skidmark teams have competed (well, participated) in volleyball, softball, basketball, golf, bocce (lawn-bowling), and bowling.
